Throughout its rich history, the Hancock Building’s owners and uses have been as varied as its signature terracotta façade. Until repurposed in 2007 into one of Downtown Roanoke’s distinguished residential apartment communities, 35 Campbell Avenue served as the commercial center for Grand Home Furnishings. Throughout conversion, the Development Team worked diligently to preserve this department store’s original charm and historical integrity, maintaining original hardwood floors and eight foot windows. These historic features have been elegantly complimented with the addition of granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Since completion, this juxtaposition of history and urban excellence has helped The Hancock maintain its status as one of Downtown Roanoke’s most sought after residential communities.
